Blog Week 10
Sorry for the slight delay in posting the week 10 blog! - Hannah :)
Hello everyone!
It’s Emma! This past week the team has been all smiles, putting in the work and enjoying the journey. I’ll share with you a few unforgettable moments!
For our Fun Day/Night, Evyn & Casey designed a real-life Hunger Games! They created a power point presentation, depicting the rules of the game. We each had three lives, indicated by our flags (a piece of chitenge fabric). We began by scrambling for survival tools. We all collected food (Marula fruits that fall from the trees) & water (bottle caps). However, some people were lucky enough to obtain weapons (water guns). During each phase, we took each other’s flags, dodged the spraying water gun, & hid. It was quite the adrenaline rush. We went inside the house for the final phase, which came down to Hannah & Kyrah. Whoever found the hidden nerf gun & its bullets would win. The odds were ever in Hannah’s favor because she was our victor! And of course, we all watched the Hunger Games later that night before going to bed!
The girls even decided to bring out the mattresses & spend the night in the living room!
We also hosted a Woman’s Conference! We prepared power point presentations about a few important topics, including, menstruation, breastfeeding, diarrhea & tuberculosis. In between each group we set up breaks, providing water, juice, & snacks! To conclude, we handed out gift bags to our audience! It was such a wonderful opportunity to be involved in the community!
On Halloween, we made sure to celebrate! Our leaders
planned a party & costumes were required for entry! Debi & Hannah
dressed up as Jellyfish. Adi was a starfish. And Dan was a fish! Ella &
Ainsley were disciples. Jamie was Vector & Kyrah was Gru from Despicable
Me. Sophia was Tinker Bell & Claire was Peter Pan. Casey was sleeping
beauty. Ty was a DJ. Brian was a Flight Dentist. And Evyn, Grace, & I were
grandmas! We played games, ate a bunch of candy, & escaped a haunted house!
Needless to say, we had a great time!
Great to see everyone is doing well and having fun!! Time sure has passed by quick.. See ya soon Emma .. Love Dad..
